THE events to celebrate 20 years of Henley’s annual art exhibition, ARTSPACE, continued this week.
On Wednesday night an audience of about 40 poetry lovers enjoyed an evening of readings in the Barn by the Free Range Poets of Barn Galleries along with two award winning guest poets, Susan Utting and Wendy Klein.
On Monday, an enthusiastic group of painters had the unique opportunity to spend a day painting alongside the well-known landscape artist, David Morgan, pictured left, who travelled from Devon to tutor the workshop.
“There was some great work produced,” says David. “Being encouraged to paint in a new style produced some really fresh work. After all that ARTSPACE has done for me and all it means to me, I really wanted to offer something to mark its 20 years.”
On Tuesday night Mitu Mukherjee, director of the sister project ARTSPACE INDIA, flew in from Kolkata. “I couldn’t miss ARTSPACE 2010. It is magnificent and such a treat and an inspiration to see all this wonderful work. I shall be taking lots of ideas back to ARTSPACE INDIA. The variety of ceramics here, in particular, is quite breath-taking,” he said.
Artists, writers, musicians, dancers as well as visual artists from all over the world spend time at ARTSPACE INDIA. Anyone interested should contact Barn Galleries.
ARTSPACE ends on Bank Holiday Monday, May 31. It is open every day from 10am to 5pm with sculpture, paintings, ceramics, jewellery, glass, metalwork and much more by over 80 professional artists all in the tranquil setting of Barn Galleries, Aston. You can even enjoy tea and home made cakes while you decide what to buy Published on 01 June 2010
